Who can play: Current 8th through 12th Graders in the Winston Churchill High School cluster - you do not have to be a current WCHS student, you just have to live in the WCHS boundary.
Philosophy of play:
The league is structured to be a fun, competitive season so players get game ice time, new players get to meet current high school players, etc.
Game ice time will be on a rotational basis similar to pick-up hockey and the objective is approximately equal ice time for all players that show up for a game. In a close game or during playoffs coaches may match players to the game situation for a more favorable outcome.
Coaches will organize offensive and defensive lines.
If there is more than one goalie they share the ice time and the goalies and coaches will determine ← how best to do that (split the game, split each period, etc.)
TeamSnap will be used by the coaches to anticipate the number of players for each game. Players will be required to indicate at least 24 hours before each game if they plan to play in that game. If they do not respond, and then show up, they may have to sit out the game and no refunds will be given.
Team size:
Team Maximum: 20 players plus 2 goalies
Team Minimum: 12 players plus 1 goalie
Please note: USA hockey will only allow 18 skaters and 2 goalies on the bench during a game. However, because generally not all players make every game, the league manager (Rockville Ice Arena) is allowing 20 players plus 2 goalies to be registered on each team, but only 18 skaters can participate in a game.

For the Churchill team, once we see how many players plan to sign up a determination will be made as to how many teams we have and the number of players on each team.
Cost per player: The fee is expected to be about $285 per player, plus $55 for a jersey for players new to the Churchill Hockey Club .
